Great News Parents! 2019
We are so excited to get our 4 year old program here at Grandview. It started Jan 22, 2019. The class is almost full for this year but you can call Stephanie Bogenhagen at 717-6953 to get an appointment to have your child screened to be put o the waiting list if you like. Attendance is very important at Early Childhood because they do have a waiting list. If someone is not using their spot by having lots of absences or tardies, they will remove that child and give the spot to the next in line. We are so excited to have the program here. I thought it was a great opportunity to provide this for the community. It offers parents a place for their four year olds to get prepared for school. It will be a joy to have them in the building. I know a lot of them are younger siblings of our current students. The four year old program day is from 8:10-3:00. They will not attend Gator time in the gym. They are needing a one hour lunch time helper, if you are interested you can go onto the district website and apply or come in and we will assist you with that. We are looking forward to this new partnership with the Early Childhood program.
This Feb we will again be participating in Pennies for Patiences, a service program that helps raise critical funds for the Lukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the world’s largest nonprofit fighting blood cancer. Please help out this year by supporting this very worth-while cause, the kick-off this year will be February 19th. Your student will bring home a small collection box to put change in and of course we will gladly accept any dollar bills! 🙂
The library is excited about our selection of new books for our students to check out and read. Please remind students to be checking out books on their AR level and taking AR test. Stomp, Chomp and Read is the theme for the Book Fair this year. It will be located in the library during conference week Monday, March 4th and Wednesday, March 6th from 3:15-7:30 and on Thursday, the 7th from 3:15-7:00 . Teachers may also plan with Miss Hinck or Mrs. Anders to send students throughout the day to shop at the Book Fair if they have money to purchase items. Stomp on by and see what we have to offer!

Once a month a student is selected from each school in the district and honored for showing improvements in academics/behavior. These students then go to the Junction City municipal building to receive a special medallion with their name on it. The mayor of Junction City will greet each student to give them their award.
The student council students will be selling candy grams again this year for Valentine’s day. They can be purchased starting on Feb 5th thru Feb 14th. The student council members will be happy to take your orders in the mornings between 7:30 and 7:45. The cost will be 50 cents each and they will be delivered to students on Thursday, February 14th. Please help support student council and send your someone a special treat.
Mrs. Davies 3rd grade class will be participating in nutrition lessons that will be presented by Ann Katt from the Kansas State Extension Services. This is a fun educational class for the students to learn about the importance of eating healthy foods and making good choices.
